happy reads

In a deep chapter with my current read... Anne Bronte's The Tenant of Wildfeel Hall...
soooo scandalous...

planting in a deep spot to make it bright.

How cute is this??! Artist Pete Dungey has an ongoing series to capture potholes but a sort of flower point. It's to bring to light the "ongoing imperfections on British roads".

"If we've planted one of those in every hole, it would be like a forest in every road!"

heroes and nothing less.

Ryan Miller and the USA olympic hoceky team. They took home the silver today, losing to Canada 3-2, in what could only be called historic game. It took us on a rollar coaster, spinning us in suspense, retching our hearts out and then breathing life and faith in to it again when at the end of regulation, it was a 2-2 tied game that would be decided in over time.

Although they took second place to Canada, the USA team has done more than just take home a silver medal. It's given life, hope, faith and love to a game that not many Americans appreciate. As they were handing out the silver medals, you can see the bittersweet heartache on the faces of the American players. Although I can never truly know what it is that they are going through at that moment, I can only say this. Thank you... thank you for representing our country at your finest and thank you for playing your best. That is all that we can ask for and anything more than that is selfish. You should be proud because we are proud and privlege to have you represent our great great country.

New Discovery!

So, I was surfing the web on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and I came upon this...

So you have four people on a road trip in Spain; not only are they exploring the country, but they interact with the country's people, eat the yummy food and learn about the culture. In the car are a Spanish actress, a Hollywood Oscar winning actress, a famous Italian chef and a New York Times writer... how awesome is that. I wish I could have been that fifth person. This only makes me want to visit Spain even more and infuse myself with more travel! This series is comical, educational, whitty, captures the towns and cities of Spain beautifully, non-scripted and just plain fun. There's no hidden agenda or proganda to this series, just a couple of friends heading out on the road in Spain and exploring it. It doesn't get any better than this. Can't wait! (For more information about airing times, visit http://www.wmfe.org/)

After researching the series a little bit more, I got into a little more digging and I found this. http://www.goop.com/

You may have heard by now, or not, that Gwyneth Paltrow has a blog. She may have received mixed criticism for it but my personal opionion?? I love it. It's cute, easy to navigate, beautiful and simple website, fun information about where to go on vacation, fashion trends, culinary recipes, reccomendations for fun family gatherings, inspirational takes on life, words of wisdom and many more! Her website is worth checking out! She's not promoting anything other than trying something new! She's just like the rest of us! She Blogs!

Alberta Ferretii Fall 2010

What a lovely breathe of fresh air. Finally something that's not tough, edgy, black or masculine. Nothing wrong with those features in a collection, because I love them like no other like the Alexander Wang gal, but there was just something so refreshing when browsing through the fall collection of Alberta Ferretti. Mrs. Ferretti has really returned back to her roots.
Romance, light but beautiful embordiery, flutterly chiffon, Jackie-O type coats, and dresses galore. Rarely did a pair of pants walk down the runway. It was doing what Alberta did best. SHe did slip in a somewhat trendy element in the mix... round toe ankle booties. I wouldn't mind getting me a pair of those. Here are some looks from her fall collection

If I were going to the Oscars, I would wear this....hands down.

Prada, Take II

It's alllllllll about the Prada love.

Miuccia Prada has done it again. Not only has she revamp some of her designs from the 90's into this collection (influence), but she's revamping her "normal clothes" with...wait, did I get this right... with Victoria Secret Angels??

Yes, that's Miranda Kerr, Lara Stone, Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambroisa strutting down the runway. Love it.
Although this collection wasn't really my style, I will admit that Mrs. Prada does know how to grab attention with her clothes. She keeps the focusly simply on her clothes. She's not afraid to take risk. And she doesn't care what other people think. She doesn't have influences. She is her own influence and she makes clothes. Period. You can't get any better than that.

UPDATE : Milan Fashion Week

Fashion week is off to a good kick in Milan. You've got Prada, Blugirl, Fendi, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Just Cavalli & Dolce and Gabbana's baby sister label, D & G strutting the catwalk on the first day.
Twice a year I get extremely excited. Early fall & Early Spring... twice a year, designers present their collections. I am amazed every each and every time. Because I am in awe that they can keep coming up with something new or take something worn and make it appear new again but with a new light. How many times can you make-over the trench coat? The little black dress? Not enough apparently!
I like to see it like this : for 4 weeks straight, it's raining fashion.
How exciting is that?
PS - will keep you guys updated as much as possible with each new shows. Yay!
